Chile has incredible scenery. Torres Del Paine NP, Perito Moreno Glacier and Mount Fitz Roy are renown for their breath-taking beauty and exhilarating treks. 

One of my favourite places in the world is Iceland. A self-drive itinerary is definitely the best way to see more than just the Golden Circle around the Reykjavik area. It's easy to drive with so little traffic. You might also like to consider a small group journey, there are several companies that offer fantastic trips.

The chaos of India is something you will never forget but it's possible to get away from it all in the deserts in Rajasthan or Tiger spotting at Ranthambore National Park. The Taj Mahal and an early morning boat trip down the Ganges River in Varanasi were also highlights now to be missed. 

Another of my favourite countries is Japan. A visit during Sakura or Cherry Blossom time is extra special. I loved the Japanese castles and gardens. 

I definitely will always choose adventure travel over laying on a beach with a book when arranging my own holidays. South America is a destination that offers a whole heap of adventure. But for those that don't want to climb mountains or swim in the Amazon with piranhas there is the most spectacular scenery on offer. The glaciers of Patagonia left me speechless. 

I've visited the African Continent 5 times. Highlights were the private game parks and of course the people and their diverse culture. 

Uzbekistan, is a doubly landlocked country located at the heart of the Silk Road in Central Asia. The city of Tashkent is a mix of extremely modern shopping malls, ancient building and a culture dating back to 1st or 2nd century BC. A self guided tour of the underground stations was totally surprising and not to be missed. The locals spoke little English but loved showing off their spectacular Mosque's and colourful markets.     

Not only spectacular during the day but in the evening the Mosque’s and Mausoleums in Samarkand are beautiful. The city comes alive as people stroll the streets and alleyways as dusk falls.  

A special experience is sleeping in desert yurts. Sitting around the campfire late into the evening and listening to local folk songs while taking in the huge night sky is unforgettable.

Visiting a local bazaar is a great way to immerse yourself into the local culture. Tashkent's most famous farmers market, Chorso Bazaar is topped by a giant green dome but also spills out into the surrounding streets. Make your way to the upper level for a birds eye view and to take in it’s vastness.

I fell in love with the intricate tile work both inside and out. Keep a headscarf handy to cover your head and shoulders when entering a mosque. Men should cover their knees.
