My family has a love of aviation with three generations of pilots. So when my brother and I were in the Pacific Northwest in 2019 we were excited to visit The Museum of Flight in Seattle, as well as the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon.
If you've never read about the history of the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird or the Hughes H-4 Hercules (Spruce Goose) then you're missing out. They are FASCINATING.
I don't think I will ever forget standing in the belly of the Spruce Goose (filled with old beach balloons) and skyping with Dad in NZ to share this moment with him. I still tear up thinking about it because we were standing inside a piece of history, and while he couldn't be there - we could make him a part of it.
Even for those who might not have a love of aviation, these two museums are full of history and worth a visit.
