Postcard from Morocco

Postcard from Morocco Jordi Elvidge

I joined a whirlwind 10-day tour through Morocco in December 2023, and it was an adventure I’ll never forget! My group—made up of Aussies, Brits, and Kiwis—explored bustling Marrakech markets before heading to the coastal town of Essaouira for sunset. We then travelled to Casablanca, and my favourite stop was Chefchaouen, where I climbed a small hill to a church and watched the sunset over the iconic blue streets.

Next up was Fes, where we navigated the maze-like souks and braved the unforgettable (and stinky) leather tannery. Then it was off to Rabat, and finally, a long drive through the High Atlas Mountains to the Sahara desert village of Merzouga.

The adventure continued with an ATV ride, sand boarding and 4x4 Jeep safaris through the desert, where we visited a Berber village and met real nomads. The food was incredible, especially the tagine! Morocco was a whirlwind mix of culture, adventure, and stunning landscapes—totally different from anything I’d done before. A short but unforgettable taste of this incredible country!
