Postcard from Greece

Postcard from Greece Jordi Elvidge

As part of my previous boat jobs, I’ve had the chance to explore many of Greece’s stunning islands, with the less-touristy ones and the Ionian being my absolute favourite! We spent a few days in Mykonos, where I soaked up the sun, indulged in delicious Greek food, and had a day to explore the island.

Over the years, I’ve journeyed through Athens, Angistri Island, Corfu, Zakynthos, Kefalonia, and even made day trips to places like Paros, Paxos, Hydra, and Skiathos. But the Ionian Islands—Kefalonia, Corfu, Zakynthos, Paxos, and Anti Paxos—hold a special place in my heart!

A real highlight was attending the Spielberg Tribute to Film Musical at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, right under the Acropolis. I’ve also visited ancient ruins like the Acropolis, Olympia, and Epidavros, and each experience has been unforgettable. The culture, the food, and of course, the beaches—Greece never gets old.

I’ll never forget the rooftop bar in Athens where I met my cousins. With the Acropolis to the left and a dramatic thunderstorm rolling in over the marina to the right, the views were absolutely unforgettable!

One of my favourite stays was in Corfu, where I spent 10 days living like a local. I rented an apartment in Corfu Old Town, shopped at local markets, and even took a cooking class that included a tour of a family-owned olive grove. I explored the island by bus, scooter, and foot, discovering hidden beaches and breathtaking views.

I’d go back to Greece in a heartbeat!
