Postcard From Fiji

Postcard From Fiji Lisa Glassey

Fiji Nadi, fully renovated and reopened it's airport back in 2019 and what a difference!  The last time i was there i remember waiting in long queue for immigration in which felt like a Tin Shed!  I was so pleased to arrive back in 2023 to see a beautiful fresh airport with Air Con, live welcoming music, clean bathrooms, duty free and and very efficient immigration team - Bula!  Welcome to Fiji, our holiday has finally begun!

We stayed at Yatule Boutique Resort down on Natadola Beach approx 1 hour from Nadi.  The location was was beautiful, you can easily walk out from the resort beach to swim and snorkel.  The resort itself is authentic, tranquil and relaxing - it really is paradise!  Yatule is not set up for children, it's the ideal getaway location for couples however it is next door to the Intercontinental Hotel which is perfect for families.

My husband spend 3 days diving, he organised this through the Dive Shop at the Intercontinetal and loved it!  He said it was some of the best diving he's ever done which included making his way through a labyrinth of corals and caves viewing a huge array of sealife.  While he was out in the Ocean, i was living the dream on the verandah of our Beach Front Bure sipping on the odd cocktails and reading - perfect for a relaxing holiday!

As a surprise we booked a Helicopter trip over to Malamala Island for one day - what a treat!  The birds eye view of the islands is incredible and the bonus is when arriving by Helicopter you have the entire island to yourself before the first boat of the day arrives.  It was a magical!

Malamala is a day island that is only accessible by either boat or helicopter, once there you can also hire day beds or private cabanas to relax, there also a selection of free seating, hammocks etc.  Onsite there is a restaurant (food was excellent) a bar, infinity pool and day spa.  While on the island everyone has access to unlimited snorkeling, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking.  It was a fabulous way to spend a day.

Fiji is only a 3 hour flight from NZ, we flew Fiji Airways direct from Wellington to Nadi.
