Postcard from Africa

Was fascinating watching a leopard come out of nowhere and take down an impala meters away from our vehicle!  Out guide who had worked in Africa for 4 years had never seen a leopard kill, so we were definitely in the right place at the right time. 

We had heard there was leopard in the area so went to have a look, but after sitting there for a while we had not see any sign of this leopard.  Suddenly a bunch of impala came bounding past us and all of a sudden the leopard jumped form its hiding place not far from our vehicle and right in front of us!  We stayed an watched while she struggled to drag the impala off to her patch.

We went back the next morning and found where she'd dragged the impala too and found her with an approx 4 month old baby!
