Postcards from the South Island

Mt Rosa Snowstorm Charlotte Campbell

Mt Rosa Vineyard snowstorm

Stuck in New Zealand for a few years so we took the opportunity to discover our beautiful South Island over two trips totaling around 6 weeks in winter of 2021 and 2022.

We covered the West Coast, Southland, Otago, Canterbury and tried to explore the Nelson/Marlborough area but the deluge of August 2022 interrupted our plans!

Highlights were the out of the blue snow fall while sampling wine at Mt Rosa in the Gibbston Valley, sunrise over the beach at Kaikoura, discovering some beautiful boutique accommodation options in Invercargill, Tekapo, Akaroa and Nelson, meeting the alpacas with one of the best views on the Banks Peninsula and all the wow moments as we drove through North Otago to Mt Cook and Tekapo.
