Lovely to meet you

Travel is my passion.  Although I have seen a lot, my bucket list grows still.

The Two year proverbial OE and living in the UK (Yes, just a few haircuts ago now) gave me the opportunity to make the most of my time to explore much of Europe including 6 months in a Kombi Van, a Top Deck Russia and Scandinavia Tour and Backpacking through Israel and Egypt.

Some of my most memorable journeys have been over landing in Africa,  where I did a 6 week trip from Nairobi to Harare ending with 6 months living in Cape Town.  Private Game Reserves in Botswana and South Africa …. Worth every cent.  River Cruising in Europe.... Amsterdam to Budapest, amazing every step of the way.  Vietnam - my 3rd visit now and will always hold a special place in my heart and would love to return.  Burma with magical Bagan and experiencing life on Lake Inle.

A small ship Alaskan Cruise experience would have to be one of my favourite ocean journeys, and certainly the cruises of the Mediterranean haven’t disappointed and are such a relaxing and fun way to enjoy a number of different destinations.  About to embark on a Viking cruise on the Norwegian Fjords.

An extended family holiday to Hawaii created so many special memories and another earlier this year to the Philippines which was a great destination to explore – would love to go back.

Morocco was a highlight that sure didn’t disappoint.  Such a multicultural country and so diverse in all corners.  Just loved the South of Spain and a revisit to Barcelona and Paris is always a bonus.

I completed a true bucket list trip in 2018 ...  a Railway journey from Beijing through Mongolia and a portion of the Trans Siberian across to Novosibirsk before heading down to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and then back up to Moscow and finishing in St Petersburg.  It was everything I hoped for and so much more.  Forever grateful of the opportunity now.

In 2019 I arranged a tour, taking a group of ladies to Europe where we travelled from Belgium to Maastricht to experience the great showman Andre Rieu, and then on to Tuscany for an even bigger treat with Andrea Bocelli, before enjoying the marvels of a Croatian cruise.

I am definitely an avid adventurer and enjoy experiencing the many different cultures that our world has to offer.  Sleeping in a long-house in East Kalimantan, Indonesia; Pearl diving in Papua New Guinea and sailing a Felucca on the Nile are just some of my favourite memories.  My most physical journey just before we went into lockdown, was a visit to Borneo where amongst the gorgeous sentimental but goofy Orangutans, beautiful birds and other wildlife, I climbed Mt Kinabalu.  A truly exhilarating experience to reach the summit at -5, from 34C at the base of the mountain just the day before.

Post Covid saw a return to Rarotonga, Fiji and the Sunshine Coast and now looking forward to a month in Italy.

After a long association with House of Travel, I work a little differently as I am no longer office based. You may find my hours somewhat unique as I embark on my new journey of a work/life balance.
