Just getting on a plane, there is something to be said for turning up at the airport, passport in hand, going somewhere you have been before or somewhere new, you know you are going to be spending some time outside of your normal routine and that's great for the mind to get a break from the day to day!

I love to be active and at home I do a lot of outdoor activities, so including the activities I enjoy with new and exciting destinations is my go to holiday, a couple of the best trips I have had were mountain biking through British Columbia and Skiing in Japan.  I got to do the sports I love while checking out a new destination.  Best of both worlds

The planning!  I guess its why we are in the travel industry as we love planning other peoples adventures but for me getting excited about the trip and doing plenty of googling in advance is part of the fun, I hit the ground knowing loosely what I want to do and how to go about it.  I'm probably not one to have every day planned perfectly but a bit of a list of must see and do's or restaurants and bars I really want to check out.
